What a paternity test actually measures

A paternity test compares specific genetic markers between a child and an alleged father. When the markers match at every tested location, the laboratory reports a probability of paternity, typically expressed as 99.99% or higher. When the profiles do not match, paternity is excluded.

The process step by step

  1. Choose the test type. Personal (peace-of-mind) testing is for private information only. Legal or official testing follows a documented chain-of-custody process and is required when the result will be used by a court, government body, or immigration authority.
  2. Collect the sample. A cheek swab is the standard sample. Collection is straightforward, painless, and suitable for adults, children, and infants.
  3. Laboratory analysis. Analysis is performed by qualified, accredited laboratory partners. KINORA GENETICS coordinates collection, documentation, and secure handling.
  4. Receive your report. Results are delivered privately once the laboratory has completed and reviewed the analysis.

Personal vs legal testing

Personal testing answers a private question. Legal testing produces documentation that third parties can rely on, and it requires professional, identity-verified collection. If there is any chance you will need the result officially, choose legal testing from the start — a personal test cannot be converted afterwards.
