A step-by-step look at a standard paternity DNA test in Vancouver, from booking an appointment to receiving the report.
A typical scenario
A father in Vancouver wants to confirm his biological relationship with his child. He books a collection appointment with KINORA GENETICS (DNA), attends with the child, and both provide cheek swabs in a few minutes.
The four stages
Appointment → Sample Collection → Laboratory Testing → DNA Report. The customer deals with one team throughout, and case status can be checked online in the Client Portal.
How collection works
- A sterile cheek swab is rotated against the inside of the left cheek for about one minute; three swabs are taken from the left cheek.
- The same is repeated on the right cheek with three more swabs.
- Swabs must not touch hands, clothing, food or surfaces.
- Each swab is placed directly into the designated sealed sample bag.
- The same procedure is completed for every participant.
How long it takes
For a standard paternity test, results are generally available in about one week after the samples have been collected and received for testing. This is a typical estimate, not a guarantee — sample condition, testing requirements and laboratory processing can affect the timeline.
